Full Day Sightseeing Tours Glencoe, Loch Ness and Inverness

Leaving the Fonab Castle Hotel at 10am we travel west following Scotland’s longest waterway, the powerful River Tay, to Crainlarich.  On route we will travel along the way of General Wades’ Military Roads and pass through sites of significant Pictish heritage including the ‘Crannog’ at Kenmore.

After a comfort break at Crainlarich we continue north west through stunning Rannoch Moor and the mysterious Glencoe (with an option of stopping at the Glencoe Visitor Centre or the James Bond Skyfall scene).  From Glencoe we travel north to Fort William, skirting the beautiful Loch Linnhe.  Around 1 pm. we’ll lunch at Fort William’s top rated Ben Nevis Inn.

After lunch and with the Nevis Mountain Range as a backdrop, we’ll continue north with views of Loch Lochy and Loch Oich, stopping at Fort Augustus.  At Fort Augustus we’ll visit the daunting Loch Ness and the amazing Caledonian Canal network of locks.   It’s then further north along the west side of Loch Ness to Inverness with plenty of chances to spot Nessie!

Along this route, we’ll have the option to stop off at Urquhart Castle or the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition.  After a short stop at Inverness, the Highland’s Capital, we return south to Pitlochry driving through the amazing Cairngorms National Park, with you back at the Fonab Castle Hotel between 5 pm and 6 pm. (times are dependent on whether you wish to visit any of the visitor attractions).

Full Day Sightseeing Tours Skye, Loch Ness and Inverness

Leaving the Fonab Castle Hotel at 10am we travel north through the awesome Cairngorms National Park to Dalwhinnie.  Its then west, continuing along the route of General Wades’ Military Roads, skirting Loch Laggan and Loch Spean (the scene of the famous TV series Monarch of the Glen).

After a comfort break at Spean Bridge we’ll head north-west along Loch Lochy, Loch Garry and Loch Duich and onto the Kyle of Lochalsh, stopping off for lunch at Hector’s Bothy around 1p.m.  On route, there is an option to visit the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle by Loch Duich.

After lunch we will cross over the Skye Bridge, stopping shortly on the Isle of Skye itself before heading back along Loch Duich.    Skirting the River Moriston, we head east to join the daunting Loch Ness.  It’s then north, along the west side of Loch Ness, to Inverness with plenty of chances to spot Nessie!

Along this route, we’ll have the option to stop off at Urquhart Castle or the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition.

Half Day Sightseeing Tours Pitlochry and Highland Perthshire

The countryside and scenery of Highland Perthshire is some of the most beautiful in the world. You do not have to travel far from Pitlochry to take in the scenery. Leaving The Fonab Castle at 10a.m. we travel south to historic Dunkeld with its majestic Cathedral.

We’ll then travel along the route of General Wades Military Roads to Aberfeldy, the home of Dewar’s whisky, Wades famous bridge across the Tay and the site of the formation of The Black Watch army.

Its then onto Fortingall village with its connections with early Christianity and Roman times as well as being the home of the oldest living thing in Europe, the Fortingall Yew tree.

We’ll then tour through Glen Lyon, the longest enclosed glen in Scotland, before stopping off at Kenmore and the famous ‘Crannog’ centre.  After a comfort break we’ll head north past the iconic and historic Schiehallion mountain and onto Kinloch Rannoch.  Still following Wades Military Roads, we’ll continue onto Tummel Bridge before stopping off at the stunning Queens View.

Before returning to the Fonab Castle at 2 p.m., we’ll have the opportunity to stop off at either Killiecrankie, Blair Atholl village, Blair Castle or the Harrods of the north the House of Bruar.
